FAQ's

1.     How old are your main characters?

        A.    Seventeen. We're not sure how old Leucadia is, but she looks their age.

2.    How long is the book?

            A.    434 pages.

3.    For what age group would you recommend Gamadin?

        A.     Anyone who can read Harry Potter will enjoy the Gamadin series.

4.    It's hard to get my boys to read anything. Is Gamadin a book for them?

        A.    Even the "I don't read nuthin'" boys will find Gamadin fun to read because
                it's a character-driven story with cool, tough surfers in a fast-paced,
high adventure novel. Having said that, Gamadin is gender neutral.
Both boys and girls have a fun ride reading Gamadin: Word of Honor.

5.    Are there strong role models for girls and boys?
        A.    Yes. On the male side, Harlowe is fearless, tough and honorable, risking

it all for the life of his girlfriend and the planet; while the two female lead characters,
Leucadia and her mother, Sook, are intelligent, independent and strong--
very good role models for all our young readers.

6.    Is it hardcore sci-fi?

        A.    No, that's what makes it so appealing to kids and adults across the board.
Even non-science fiction readers enjoy the series.

7.    Is there any explicit sex or offensive language?

        A.     No.  It's clean, but there are a couple of bad beasties that lose their heads.

8.    How many books do you plan for the Gamadin series?

        A.    Good question.  Short answer is unknown at this time, but Books II and III
manuscripts are completed, the outline for Book IV is done. Tom says he knows

where Book V is headed.  (Future Page) As long as the series stays fresh and fun,
Tom will be adding more books to the series. (PS Book II, Gamadin: Mons
will be in bookstores this October, 2009!)

9.    How can we arrange a visit to our classroom with Tom?

        A.     Simply contact Tom's assistant, Fran Romero, by email at: fran@gamadin.com,
or at the following telephone numbers: (619) 370-0230 or (858) 550-6225.
She will be glad to work with you to arrange a speaking event.

10.    How can we best prepare our students prior to Tom's visit?

        A.    When speaking to your classes, Tom has found that a discussion format versus
a prepared lecture better benefits the students.  What we found works best is to
have the students prepare questions to ask Tom before he arrives.

11.    Does Tom bring books to sell when he visits the schools?

        A.    No. Tom leaves the sale of his book to the bookstores and online booksellers,

such as Amazon (www.amazon.com) or Barnes & Noble (www.bn.com).

Although he uses his book as an example, the main emphasis when he comes

to the classroom is on the writing process as seen through the eyes of a
                published author.

12.    How much would Tom charge to visit our classroom or campus?

        A.    There is no charge. His visits are all complimentary.
